Lake Ambassador Peer Mentoring Program鈥�
For many students, transitioning to life as a university student is a huge challenge.
Peer mentors know what it鈥檚 like, and they鈥檙e here to help!鈥�
The Peer Mentoring Program pairs new students with more experienced peers to help
navigate the transition to university life. Peer mentors are role models who:鈥�
- Provide emotional support and validation 鈥�
- Assist their mentees in accessing campus resources鈥�
- Help their peers become more engaged in the 天美影院community鈥�
The Peer Mentoring Program is a campus-wide initiative designed to support student success.鈥��
Program Goals鈥�
The goal of the Peer Mentoring Program is to reduce the stress and isolation that
students can experience when transitioning to university life. Our mentors support
their mentees in a safe, caring, one-on-one relationship while they work on their
personal, social, academic, career, and life goals. Mentors are role models, guides,
misconception challengers, motivators, and door openers. Our peer mentors represent
a wide variety of majors and personal backgrounds. Mentors are here to support you
while you explore your personal interests, overcome challenges, take advantage of
campus resources, and find your own sense of community.鈥�
The objectives of this program are to help new students:鈥�
- Develop a support network with peers鈥��
- Acquire the necessary skills to become independent, life-long learners鈥�
- Become connected in the 天美影院community鈥�
- Find purpose within their major and future career鈥�

Connect with a Mentor
If you are a current or prospective first-year student looking to connect with a mentor,
please email peermentoring@ollusa.edu to learn more about what 天美影院has to offer. To request a peer mentor, complete the
online Peer Mentor Request Form. You'll be contacted and matched with a peer mentor
who has similar interests and/or a related career focus.
Become a Mentor and Make a Difference鈥�
The Lake Ambassador Peer Mentor role is an hourly-paid, on-campus employment opportunity for currently enrolled undergraduate students. Peer mentors also receive training to develop important leadership and communication skills, make meaningful connections with their peers, and use their knowledge and experience to impact the lives of new students. Amanda Salazar
My name is Amanda Salazar. I am the Graduate Assistant studying for my master鈥檚 in
Communication Sciences and Disorders. In my free time I love to bake for friends and
family!
Alyn Manzo
My name is Alyn Manzo. My majors are Kinesiology and Psychology. I enjoy listening
to music, eating Thai food, and sleeping.
Kassandra Maldonado
My name is Kassandra Maldonado, and I am a History major and Political Science minor. In my free time I like to paint, hang out with my friends and family, and play with my cat Mango.
Jazmin Montanez
My name is Jazmin Montanez. I am a senior double majoring in Criminal Justice and
Psychology, and minoring in Education. In my free time I enjoy dancing and spending
time with my friends.
Allie Gonzales
My name is Allie Gonzales, and I am a senior here at Our Lady of the Lake University.
I am an Education major who played softball for three years as a college athlete.
I enjoy taking long walks/runs, listening to music, crochet, playing card games, and
spending time with my family.
Alexandra Trevino
My name is Alexandra Trevino, and I am a peer mentor. I am a Communication Sciences
and Disorders major with a double minor in English and Child Studies. My hobbies consist
of reading, dancing, and hanging out with my dog. I am so excited to be here and help!
Samantha Amaya
My name is Samantha Amaya, and I am a peer mentor. I am an Education major seeking
certification in EC-6, Bilingual, Special Education, and English as a Second Language.
A fun fact about me is that one of my life dreams is to go to Iceland! I love to experience
new things and meet new people.
Stephanie Sandoval
My name is Stephanie Sandoval. I am majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Psychology. I enjoy running and hanging out with my friends/family. I am also a proud dog mom of two Chihuahuas who I love with my whole heart!
