Jul 02, 2025

Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) has officially partnered with Laredo College (LC) to launch a bold new transfer agreement aimed at expanding access to affordable, high-quality bachelor鈥檚 degree pathways for students in South Texas.

On June 26, 2025, leaders from both institutions gathered at the Sueltenfuss Library on OLLU鈥檚 San Antonio campus to commemorate the signing of this landmark agreement. The event brought together trustees, faculty and staff, members of the Congregation of Divine Providence, and special guests from the Laredo community for a celebration of collaboration, access, and educational opportunity.

The agreement paves the way for qualifying Laredo College students to transfer into OLLU鈥檚 undergraduate programs with streamlined credit evaluations, automatic admission into designated majors, and personalized advising support. Students will also benefit from scholarship opportunities and ongoing guidance throughout their academic journey.

鈥淭his agreement is more than a memorandum,鈥 said Dr. Abel A. Ch谩vez, President of OLLU. 鈥淚t is a shared declaration of purpose. Together, Laredo College and 天美影院are clearing pathways, removing barriers, and accelerating access to four-year degrees for students who will go on to lead, serve, and transform our communities of San Antonio, South Texas, and beyond.鈥

Designed to serve first-generation and underrepresented students, the partnership reflects both institutions鈥 commitment to equity and student success. By addressing common transfer challenges鈥攍ike credit loss, limited advising, and financial roadblocks鈥攖he agreement creates a smoother transition for students pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 degree.

鈥淚t is an honor to see both of our great institutions come together for the success of our students,鈥 said Dr. Minita Ram铆rez, President of Laredo College. 鈥淭his partnership with Our Lady of the Lake University will open more doors for our students that will lead them to become great leaders in our communities, throughout the South Texas region, and the nation. When we empower our students and remove obstacles, we also clear a route to graduation and their dream career.鈥

As Texas continues to invest in building a skilled and educated workforce, this agreement aligns with state goals to increase educational attainment and economic mobility. OLLU, as a Hispanic-Serving Institution founded in 1895, remains committed to mission-driven partnerships that uplift students and communities through higher education.
